Medinilla (Medinilla speciosa) originates from the Philippines and belongs to the Melastomataceae family. In its tropical homeland, this evergreen shrub grows both epiphytically (on other plants or trees) and terrestrially (on the ground). The medinilla’s bold flowers have made it a popular houseplant.
